Fifty years ago, most twenty-year-old kids were saying "Never trust anyone over thirty".

Those kids are running the country today.

I guess their new mantra is "Never trust anyone over thirty - except for me"!

Well, this year is finally over. It's been a doozy, for sure.

We've come full circle from men not being able to run for office because of the color of their skin to a man being elected president because of the color of his skin.

I've gone from not having health insurance to soon being fined for not having health insurance.

We got a loan and spent $25k plugging holes in the roof, walls, and windows of our house.

We bought a "new" car - before the old one died, for once.

We changed Churches - before the old one died, for once.

My health has actually declined and improved on different fronts.

Jon started school - and is blowing those kids in his video classroom away!

More friends from the old group passed away - there's only two of us left now. Criminee, I'm old.

So me things are better, some are worse - others will change more drastically soon.

Here's to a better year this next year!

Granville Oral Roberts (January 24, 1918 – December 15, 2009)

Roberts was born in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, the fifth and youngest child of Reverend Ellis Melvin Roberts and Claudia Priscilla Irwin.

After finishing high school, Roberts studied for two years each at Oklahoma Baptist University and Phillips University. In 1938, he married a preacher's daughter, Evelyn Lutman Fahnestock.

Roberts became a traveling faith healer after ending his college studies without a degree. According to a TIME Magazine profile of 1972, Roberts originally made a name for himself with a large mobile tent "that sat 3,000 on metal folding chairs" where "he shouted at petitioners who did not respond to his healing."

Roberts died on December 15, 2009 at the age of 91. He had been "semi-retired" living in Newport Beach, California.

"Instead of joining us on the right side of history, all the Republicans can come up with is, 'slow down, stop everything, let's start over.' If you think you've heard these same excuses before, you're right. When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said 'slow down, it's too early, things aren't bad enough.'"

"When women spoke up for the right to speak up, they wanted to vote, some insisted they simply, slow down, there will be a better day to do that, today isn't quite right."

"When this body was on the verge of guaranteeing equal civil rights to everyone regardless of the color of their skin, some senators resorted to the same filibuster threats that we hear today."

Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada)

Yes, Harry - when these history-altering moments (Slavery, Women's rights, Blacks' Civil Rights) happened, a large group of people fought these changes tooth and nail.

They were and still are called DEMOCRATS.

Had Republicans joined the Democrats at these points in history, Rosa Parks would still be sitting on the back seat of the bus, still unable to vote, and still would have been the property of her Master.

And he probably would have been a Democrat.

Y'all are still just as wrong today.

CORNED BEEF BRISKET

WHEN YOU ARE READY TO PREPARE BREAKFAST, REMOVE BRISKET FROM CROCK POT.

REMOVE MOST OF THE FAT (THIS COMES DOWN TO PERSONAL PREFERENCE. I LIKE TO LEAVE A LITTLE)

CHOP BRISKET INTO SMALL SHREDS.

DICE POTATOES.

We Read:

Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings was the founder, and for many years, Executive Director of an organization called the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN started essentially as Jennings’ personal project and grew to become the culmination of his life’s work. And he was chosen by President Obama to be the nation’s Safe Schools Czar primarily because he had founded and led GLSEN.

Source - BE CAREFUL! SOURCE PAGE IS FILLED WITH STUFF GOOD FOLKS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SEE OR READ!

If you want specifics, click the source link - my blog settings won't let me post the list of books, and I'm OK with that.

Basically, the guy Mr. Obama has put in charge of your kids' safety while at school thinks it's OK to encourage them to read books that glorify pedophilic rape, toddler-age sex, and prostitution.

As most of my friends know, Jon is home-schooled. Now y'all can see why. The simple fact of the matter is that our kids can be exposed to filth like this on a daily basis for weeks before we become aware of it - and once exposed to the spiritual disease of sexual deviations like this, they can't be un-exposed.

Isaiah 5:20

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Folks today worship Evil, seek out the dark things, and seek to destroy not only those things which we have traditionally held dear, but the truly sacred things of this world.

Things the world laughs at us for decrying - calling them "little things" - are what have cost us our rightful place in society.

For instance - whatever happened, whatever was going on, once a year for the last 45 years the Word of God has been read to massive audiences during the "Charlie Brown Christmas" TV show.

At the climax of the show, Linus steps up to the microphine and recites:

Luke 2:8-14

"'8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"

This year, Mr. Obama will be pre-empting that to try once again to sell us on his socialist healthcare bill.

Worry not - Jon is working on memorizing Linus' lines from Luke - hopefully I'll have video for y'all later this week!

   So, I'm a Fundamentalist.

Do you believe the Bible is 100% true?
Do you believe Jesus alone is the Saviour?
Do you believe God's plan doesn't change?

   Welcome to the Club.

As so often happens these days, folks have changed the meaning of "Christian Fundamentalist".

It now means (to the world at large) that you are a Republican, KJV-only, teetotaler who attends an independent Church pastored by an under-thirty graduate of Pensacola Christian College.

I'm not a Republican, I just vote that way.

If a man came up to me and said "You must either smoke this marijuana or snort this cocaine, or I'll shoot this puppy" I'd smoke the marijuana.

That doesn't mean I'm a pothead, it's just the lesser of two evils.

(for the record, I wouldn't smoke the Marijuana, I'm just making a point here)

I use the KJV, and don't much care for other translations, but I don't get uppity about it. If someone got behind the pulpit with a copy of "The Message©", I might be moved to say something.

I drink beer. Don't worry, it's not what you think. I was prescribed it for severe kidney stones, and I drink no more than two ounces at a time no more than three times (usually only once) a week. If you take NyQuil, you've got me beat on alchohol consumption.

I attend a SBC Baptist Church. The fact is, most of the folks there believe the same way I do. I'd wager more of the folks at my current Church are true Fundies than at my previous "Fundamentalist" church. A rose by any other name, and all that. I joined that church because I liked it. Not only am I not there to change anything - I'll fight the person who tries.

My current Pastor is not under thirty. He's a well-trained, well-taught, well-seasoned Pastor.

Fundamentalism is getting a bad rap these days. Mostly because of those other Fundamentalists who keep trying to blow us up. Also because of folks like Fred Phelps who preach messages of hate while profiting by suing folks who disagree with them. Then, for some reason we get blamed for stuff the "Evangelicals" are doing. I gotta say - if you're in a 50k member church where the preacher wears blue jeans with holes in the knees and the music minister has all three of his ex wives in the congregation you're not a fundie. (If the pastor of a MegaChurch preaches that you can be a practicing Homosexual and attend his Church, don't be surprised when his boyfriend turns up.)

I guess I should be glad folks have stereotyped us fundies as those folks in the little churches down the road - that makes it easier for us to be pretty much everywhere.

I know I said I was going to leave off the Politics for a while, and that I am leary of saying anything about the President, but this is the most significant Presidential moment in recent history.

Tonight, Mr. Obama announced the removal of troops from Iraq within the next few months. He is removing them not because we have won the War there (we have not, no one is stupid enough to say so), but because the war in Iraq is unpopular among other Nations.

Retreat from the field of war without obtaining your objective is the very definition of surrender. When President Bush's term ended, this was a war we were winning, despite Congress' sometimes illegal and often immoral attempts to sink it. Now, we have given it up.

His reasoning had nothing to do with the war itself - it was a move to make us more "popular" with other Nations.

He is also hamstringing the war in Afghanistan by placing a time limit of 18 months on it. All Al-Quaeda has to do is keep hiding in their Pakistani caves for a year-and-a-half, and they win there, as well.

It's time to start learning Arabic - or looking for property in Mexico.

I am a Fundamental Christian. This doesn't mean I like to blow things up - it just means that I believe Christ when he said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

I also believe the Bible when it says "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." (Hebrews 13:8)

God doesn't change. His will for us doesn't change. What is right and what is wrong doesn't change. Faith in Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

I don't believe I am right - I am a sinner as are all Men. I believe the Bible is right, and I endeavor to follow it as closely as I can.
